Sawtry Car Scheme
(In partnership with Cambridgeshire County Council)
COVID 19 Update
Following the current Government guidelines, we have suspended our activities and clubs until further notice to protect our service users, members, volunteers and staff. This includes the Green End and Alconbury Thursday Clubs, Chatterbox and Sounds Good groups, the Car Scheme, Sawtry Man Cave, the Coffee Shop and our Charity Shop.
We will be publishing the Sawtry Eye as usual, though there may be a delay is distribution. The Sawtry Foodbank will also continue to operate, if in a different way. Please be patient as we explore the best way forward while keeping everyone safe.
Thank you for your continued support, we hope to be back up and running as soon as possible. Meanwhile, we will be responding to messages as best we can.
If you experience difficulties with getting out and about, travelling to appointments or visiting friends and family, the Sawtry Car Scheme may be able to help.
The Sawtry Car Scheme is a volunteer-run scheme for people who have difficulties getting to or using public transport. Those who do not have access to a car or any other means of transport can also use the scheme.
The scheme can be used for attending appointments, for example medical appointments with the GP, chiropodist, opticians; attending hospital appointments including Peterborough, Hinchingbrooke and Addenbrooke’s hospitals; and visiting friends and family in the area. Journeys to personal appointments and meetings, plus accessing public services, could be undertaken.
A number of scheme users have commented on how useful and valuable the scheme is to them. There is a charge for this service to help the volunteers cover the cost of fuel and motoring costs. To find out more, please contact us, download a leaflet for more details or contact the scheme co-ordinator on 07810 476979
